Community Service

There are many opportunities to give back to the local community while fulfilling your residency at UF Health Shands Hospital.

In the Fall, UF Health Shands Hospital raises money for Alachua County Heart Walk.  Each year, UF Health Shands Hospital raises money to be one of the top company fundraisers.  Last year the walk was held on Saturday, September 19th. For more info, click here.

UF Health Shands Hospital also has a strong commitment to the United Way of North Central Florida.  Last year the residents sat on the UF Health Shands Hospital United Way committee and helped with the fundraising efforts. Along with manning a raffle booth in the atrium, residents spread the word about other ways to donate.  The United Way donation drive kicked off in October and raised over $306,000.  For more information, click here. In the Spring, UF Health Shands Hospital raises money for the local March of Dimes. The residents helped raise over $75,000 for the local walk through multiple fundraisers. “The UF Health Shands administrative residency far exceeded the expectations I had upon entering the role. The exposure to senior leadership, degree of responsibility, and overall experiences with which I had been presented were quite astounding and prompted both higher level learning and extensive development, professionally and beyond. Each day in the residency carried great value, which I can confidently say I will carry with me throughout my career in healthcare. I feel extremely grateful to have been an administrative resident for such an exceptional organization and am proud to say it has transformed me into a lifelong learner.”
