Our Staff

Nearly 1,200 expert UF College of Medicine and community physicians along with more than 13,000 skilled Shands nursing and support staff provide comprehensive high-quality patient care, from primary care and family medicine to subspecialty tertiary and quaternary services for patients with highly complex medical conditions. The faculty from the UF College of Medicine includes nationally and internationally recognized physicians whose expertise is supported by intensive research activities. Shands’ affiliation with the UF Health Science Center allows patients to benefit from the latest medical knowledge and technology. Most services are supported by top notch administrative talent, of which the hospital could not function without.

Our Recognition

UF Health Shands Hospital consistently earns top-50 rankings in the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals report. In the 2023-2024 report, UF Health Shands Hospital was recognized in five adult specialties: ENT (#30), Neurology & Neurosurgery (#30), Obstetrics & Gynecology (#39), Geriatrics (#42), and Pulmonology & Lung Surgery (#48). UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital was recognized among the nation’s best in four children’s specialties in the 2023-2024 U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings: Diabetes and Endocrinology (#10), Pulmonology & Lung Surgery (#24), Cardiology & Heart Surgery (#26), and Neonatology (#35).
