Edward Jimenez
Chief Executive Officer
UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Florida

Ed Jimenez is the CEO for the hospitals and programs operated under UF Health Shands at the University of Florida, UF’s flagship hospital and the state’s leading health care referral organization. Patients come to UF Health in Gainesville from all 67 Florida counties and from throughout the region, nation and a dozen countries each year. UF Health has a $1.2 billion budget and employs over 8,900 people.

Jimenez collaborates with UF Health system leaders to provide accessible health care services for patients; develop hospital policy development and strategic planning; manage operational expense and revenue budgets; implement resource-utilization initiatives; lead quality improvement initiatives; and champion a culture of service and operational excellence. The New Jersey native has an extensive career in hospital administration, during which he has earned an outstanding reputation for interpersonal communication, team-building and business strategy development and implementation. His successful track record also includes business development, physician recruitment and faculty practice administration.

From October 2010 to June 2014, Jimenez was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for UF Health Shands Hospital. Prior to that, from 2005-2010,  he served as System Vice President for Saint Joseph’s Health Care System, a 900-bed medical center in northern New Jersey. There, he also served as president of seven for-profit, joint venture LLCs; led a physician office- based EHR strategy; improved outpatient volume by 105 percent, launched 12 new programs, successfully recruited 160 new physicians to voluntary staff; and oversaw construction of three ambulatory care facilities.

Jimenez holds professional membership in the American College of Health Care Executives and the Medical Group Management Association. He holds an MBA from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, and a BA in Politics from Brandeis University.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Daniel received his Bachelor of Science in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University. He attended graduate school at Xavier University where he earned both a Master of Health Administration and Master of Business Administration. He was a student member of ACHE and participated in the Peer Mentor-Mentee program working with undergraduate students interested in health administration. Daniel’s previous work experience includes an administrative internship with OrthoCincy, along with serving as an operations supervisor during his time at Ohio State.

Britta McCombie

Britta McCombie
2018-2019 Administrative Resident

Originally from Morgantown, West Virginia, Britta McCombie received her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University  in 2014. She recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2018. While completing her Master in Healthcare Administration, Britta worked as an Administrative Intern at CHI St. Luke’s – The Woodlands Hospital in the greater Houston, Texas area. Additionally during her graduate program, Britta led her team to a semi-finalists placement at the 2018 UAB Health Administration Case Competition, co-chaired UNC’s 4th annual Women in Healthcare Leadership Symposium, was an active student member of ACHE, and was inducted into the national public health Delta Omega Honorary. In her free time, Britta enjoys traveling, taking Pure Barre exercise classes, baking and attending WVU football games.
